Florian Weimer cfb5a97a93 ldconfig: Fixes for skipping temporary files.
Arguments to a memchr call were swapped, causing incorrect skipping
of files.

Files related to dpkg have different names: they actually end in
.dpkg-new and .dpkg-tmp, not .tmp as I mistakenly assumed.

Fixes commit 2aa0974d25 ("elf: ldconfig should skip
temporary files created by package managers").

Sergey Bugaev daf7b53a3c elf: Port ldconfig away from stack-allocated paths
ldconfig was allocating PATH_MAX bytes on the stack for the library file
name. The issues with PATH_MAX usage are well documented [0][1]; even if
a program does not rely on paths being limited to PATH_MAX bytes,
allocating 4096 bytes on the stack for paths that are typically rather
short (strlen ("/lib64/libc.so.6") is 16) is wasteful and dangerous.

Instead, make use of asprintf to dynamically allocate memory of just the
right size on the heap.

Joan Bruguera 1b0ea8c5d8 elf: Restore ldconfig libc6 implicit soname logic [BZ #30125]
While cleaning up old libc version support, the deprecated libc4 code was
accidentally kept in `implicit_soname`, instead of the libc6 code.

This causes additional symlinks to be created by `ldconfig` for libraries
without a soname, e.g. a library `libsomething.123.456.789` without a soname
will create a `libsomething.123` -> `libsomething.123.456.789` symlink.

As the libc6 version of the `implicit_soname` code is a trivial `xstrdup`,
just inline it and remove `implicit_soname` altogether.

Some further simplification looks possible (e.g. the call to `create_links`
looks like a no-op if `soname == NULL`, other than the verbose printfs), but
logic is kept as-is for now.

Wilco Dijkstra 32c7acd464 Replace rawmemchr (s, '\0') with strchr
Almost all uses of rawmemchr find the end of a string. Since most targets use
a generic implementation, replacing it with strchr is better since that is
optimized by compilers into strlen (s) + s. Also fix the generic rawmemchr
implementation to use a cast to unsigned char in the if statement.

Siddhesh Poyarekar 30891f35fa Remove "Contributed by" lines
We stopped adding "Contributed by" or similar lines in sources in 2012
in favour of git logs and keeping the Contributors section of the
glibc manual up to date. Removing these lines makes the license
header a bit more consistent across files and also removes the
possibility of error in attribution when license blocks or files are
copied across since the contributed-by lines don't actually reflect
reality in those cases.

Move all "Contributed by" and similar lines (Written by, Test by,
etc.) into a new file CONTRIBUTED-BY to retain record of these
contributions. These contributors are also mentioned in
manual/contrib.texi, so we just maintain this additional record as a
courtesy to the earlier developers.

The following scripts were used to filter a list of files to edit in
place and to clean up the CONTRIBUTED-BY file respectively. These
were not added to the glibc sources because they're not expected to be
of any use in future given that this is a one time task:

Historically, this mechanism was used to process "nosegneg"

no longer useful.

The entire mechanism is not well-designed because it causes the
meaning of hwcap bits in ld.so.cache to depend on the kernel version
that was used to generate the cache, which makes it difficult to use
this mechanism for anything else in the future.

Joseph Myers 32db86d558 Add fall-through comments.
This patch adds fall-through comments in some cases where -Wextra
produces implicit-fallthrough warnings.

The patch is non-exhaustive. Apart from architecture-specific code
for non-x86_64 architectures, it does not change sunrpc/xdr.c (legacy
code, probably should have such changes, but left to be dealt with
separately), or places that already had comments about the
fall-through but not matching the form expected by
-Wimplicit-fallthrough=3 (the default level with -Wextra; my
inclination is to adjust those comments to match rather than
downgrading to -Wimplicit-fallthrough=1 to allow any comment), or one
place where I thought the implicit fallthrough was not correct and so
should be handled separately as a bug fix. I think the key thing to
consider in review of this patch is whether the fall-through is indeed
intended and correct in each place where such a comment is added.

Aurelien Jarno 7d38eb3897 ldconfig: set LC_COLLATE to C [BZ #22505]
ldconfig supports `include' directives and use the glob function to
process them. The glob function sort entries according to the LC_COLLATE
category. When using a standard "include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf" entry
in /etc/ld.so.conf, the order therefore depends on the locale used to
run ldconfig. A few examples of locale specific order that might be
disturbing in that context compared to the C locale:
- The cs_CZ and sk_SK locales sort the digits after the letters.
- The et_EE locale sorts the 'z' between 's' and 't'.

This patch fixes that by setting LC_COLLATE to C in order to process
files in deterministic order, independently of the locale used to launch
ldconfig.

NOTE: This should NOT be backported to older release branches.

Changelog:
	[BZ #22505]
	* elf/ldconfig.c (main): Call setlocale to force LC_COLLATE to C.

Joseph Myers 58b587c1f8 Update copyright dates not handled by scripts/update-copyrights.
I've updated copyright dates in glibc for 2017. This is the patch for
the changes not generated by scripts/update-copyrights and subsequent
build / regeneration of generated files.

Please remember to include 2017 in the dates for any new files added
in future (which means updating any existing uncommitted patches you
have that add new files to use the new copyright dates in them).

I've updated copyright dates in glibc for 2015. This is the patch for
the changes not generated by scripts/update-copyrights and subsequent
build / regeneration of generated files. Apart from the files updated
last time (of which sotruss.ksh had moved to sotruss.sh during the
year) this also updates nptl/version.c (missed from 2006 until
October) and sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/lddlibc4.c (missed since 2009).
