Commit 6bc301672b ("math: Remove __XXX math functions from installed
math.h [BZ #32418]") left an extra semicolon after macro expansion. For
instance the ceil declaration after expansion is:
extern double ceil (double __x) __attribute__ ((__nothrow__ , __leaf__)) __attribute__ ((__const__));;
This chokes very naive parsers like gauche c-wrapper. Fix that by
removing that extra semicolon in the macro.

The syscall pkey_alloc can return ENOSPC to indicate either that all

protection keys are disabled. In such case the test should not fail and
just return unsupported.
This matches the behaviour of the generic tst-pkey.

Commit 6cbf845fcd ("iconv: Preserve iconv -c error exit on invalid
inputs (bug 32046)") changed the error exit code to report an error when
an input character has been transliterated. This looks like a bug as the
moto in the iconv program is to report an error code in the same
condition as the iconv() function.
This happens because the STANDARD_TO_LOOP_ERR_HANDLER macro sets a
default value for result and later updates it if the transliteration
succeed. With the changes, setting the default value also marks the
input as illegal.
Fix that by setting up the default value of result only when the
transliteration is not used. This works because __gconv_transliterate()
calls __gconv_mark_illegal_input() to return an error. At the same time
also fix the typo outself -> ourselves.

localedef currently blindly trust the archive header. When passed an
archive file with the wrong endianess, this leads to a segmentation
fault:
$ localedef --big-endian --list-archive /usr/lib/locale/locale-archive
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
When passed non-archive files, asserts are reported on the best case,
but sometimes it can lead to a segmentation fault:
$ localedef --list-archive /bin/true
localedef: programs/locarchive.c:1643: show_archive_content: Assertion `used < GET (head->namehash_used)' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)
$ localedef --list-archive /usr/lib/locale/C.utf8/LC_COLLATE
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
This patch improves the user experience by looking at the magic value,
which is always written, but never checked. It should still be possible
to trigger a segmentation fault with crafted files, but this already
catch many cases.
There is a GNU extension that allows to call getcwd(NULL, >0). It is
described in the documentation, but also directly in the unistd.h
header, just above the declaration.
Therefore the attribute access mode added in commit 06febd8c67
is not correct. Drop it.
When a local resolver like unbound is listening on the IPv4 loopback
address 127.0.0.1, the nss/tst-nss-files-hosts-long test fails. This is
due to:
- the default resolver in the absence of resolv.conf being 127.0.0.1
- the default DNS NSS database configuration in the absence of
nsswitch.conf being 'hosts: dns [!UNAVAIL=return] file'
This causes the requests for 'test4' and 'test6' to first be sent to the
local resolver, which responds with NXDOMAIN in the likely case those
records do no exist. In turn that causes the access to /etc/hosts to be
skipped, which is the purpose of that test.
Fix that by providing a simple nsswitch.conf file forcing access to
/etc/hosts for that test. I have tested that the only changed result in
the testsuite is that test.

On alpha, Linux kernel 5.1 added the standard getegid, geteuid and
getppid syscalls (commit ecf7e0a4ad15287). Up to now alpha was using
the corresponding OSF1 syscalls through:
- sysdeps/unix/alpha/getegid.S
- sysdeps/unix/alpha/geteuid.S
- sysdeps/unix/alpha/getppid.S
When building against kernel headers >= 5.1, the glibc now use the new
syscalls through sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/syscalls.list. When it is then
used with an older kernel, the corresponding 3 functions fail.
A quick fix is to move the OSF1 wrappers under the
sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/alpha directory so they override the standard
linux ones. A better fix would be to try the new syscalls and fallback
to the old OSF1 in case the new ones fail. This can be implemented in

Commit 1294b1892e ("Add support for sqrt asm redirects") added the
-fno-math-errno flag to build most of the glibc in order to enable GCC
to inline math functions. Due to GCC bug #88576, saving and restoring
errno around calls to malloc are optimized-out. In turn this causes
strerror to set errno to ENOMEM if it get passed an invalid error number
and if malloc sets errno to ENOMEM (which might happen even if it
succeeds). This is not allowed by POSIX.
This patch changes the build flags, building only libm with
-fno-math-errno and all the remaining code with -fno-math-errno. This
should be safe as libm doesn't contain any code saving and restoring
errno around malloc. This patch can probably be reverted once the GCC
bug is fixed and available in stable releases.
Tested on x86-64, no regression in the testsuite.

The pre-ARMv7 CPUs are missing atomic compare and exchange and/or
barrier instructions. Therefore those are implemented using kernel
assistance, calling a kernel function at a specific address, and passing
the arguments in the r0 to r4 registers. This is done by specifying
registers for local variables. The a_ptr variable is placed in the r2
register and declared with __typeof (mem). According to the GCC
documentation on local register variables, if mem is a constant pointer,
the compiler may substitute the variable with its initializer in asm
statements, which may cause the corresponding operand to appear in a
different register.
This happens in __libc_start_main with the pointer to the thread counter
for static binaries (but not the shared ones):
# ifdef SHARED
unsigned int *ptr = __libc_pthread_functions.ptr_nthreads;
# ifdef PTR_DEMANGLE
PTR_DEMANGLE (ptr);
# endif
# else
extern unsigned int __nptl_nthreads __attribute ((weak));
unsigned int *const ptr = &__nptl_nthreads;
# endif
This causes static binaries using threads to crash when the GNU libc is
built with GCC 8 and most notably tst-cancel21-static.
To fix that, use the same trick than for the volatile qualifier,
defining a_ptr as a union.

POT-Creation-Date field from the header in the output.), msgfmt does not
copy the POT-Creation-Date field in the header entry from the po file to
the mo file anymore. This breaks the assumption that we can test gettext
by comparing each message in the po files with the corresponding string
return by gettext. This makes the intl/tst-gettext to fail.
While it would have been possible to modify the po2test.awk script to
also strip the line POT-Creation-Date field when creating the msgs.h
file, it would not work with both the old and new msgfmt.
Instead create a tst-gettext-de.po file from de.po by removing the
POT-Creation-Date line. Another alternative would be to use a static
tst-gettext-de.po file, but I guess the reason for using de.po is to
also catch issues caused by newly added strings.
As tst-catgets also uses msg.h, it should also be updated. Instead of
using the new tst-gettext-de.po file, the patch modifies xopen-msg.awk

Add a test to check that the getrlimit, setrlimit and prlimit functions
and their 64-bit equivalent behave correctly with RLIM_INFINITY and
RLIM64_INFINITY. For that it assumes that the prlimit64 function calls
the syscall directly without translating the value and that the kernel
uses the -1 value to represent infinity.
It first finds a resource with the hard limit set to infinity so the
soft limit can be manipulated easily and check for the consistency
between the value set or get by the prlimit64 and the other functions.
It is Linux specific add it uses the prlimit and prlimit64 functions.
Changelog:

* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/Makefile (tests): Add tst-rlimit-infinity.
prlimit called without a new value fails on 32-bit machines if any of
the soft or hard limits are infinity. This is because prlimit does not
translate old_rlimit from RLIM64_INFINITY to RLIM_INFINITY, but checks
that the value returned by the prlimit64 syscall fits into a 32-bit
value, like it is done for example in getrlimit. Note that on the
other hand new_rlimit is correctly translated from RLIM_INFINITY to
RLIM64_INFINITY before calling the syscall.

RLIM64_INFINITY was supposed to be a glibc convention rather than
anything seen by the kernel, but it ended being passed to the kernel
through the prlimit64 syscall.
* On the kernel side, the value is defined for the prlimit64 syscall for
all architectures in include/uapi/linux/resource.h:
#define RLIM64_INFINITY (~0ULL)
* On the kernel side, the value is defined for getrlimit and setrlimit
in arch/alpha/include/uapi/asm/resource.h
#define RLIM_INFINITY 0x7ffffffffffffffful
* On the GNU libc side, the value is defined in
sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/alpha/bits/resource.h:
# define RLIM64_INFINITY 0x7fffffffffffffffLL
This was not an issue until the getrlimit and setrlimit glibc functions
have been changed in commit 045c13d185 ("Consolidate Linux setrlimit and
getrlimit implementation") to use the prlimit64 syscall instead of the
getrlimit and setrlimit ones.
This patch fixes that by adding a wrapper to fix the value passed to or
received from the kernel, before or after calling the prlimit64 syscall.

Various fmax and fmin function implementations mishandle sNaN
arguments:
(a) When both arguments are NaNs, the return value should be a qNaN,
but sometimes it is an sNaN if at least one argument is an sNaN.
(b) Under TS 18661-1 semantics, if either argument is an sNaN then the
result should be a qNaN (whereas if one argument is a qNaN and the
other is not a NaN, the result should be the non-NaN argument).
Various implementations treat sNaNs like qNaNs here.
One way to fix that is to detect the sNaN and add a special case. That
said there is no FPU instruction to do that, so it requires transfering
the FP value to an integer register and testing bits. This becomes quite
complicated so it's probably better to just use the generic versions of
these functions which just do that through issignaling.

The fillin_rpath function in elf/dl-load.c loops over each RPATH or
RUNPATH tokens and interprets empty tokens as the current directory
("./"). In practice the check for empty token is done *after* the
dynamic string token expansion. The expansion process can return an
empty string for the $ORIGIN token if __libc_enable_secure is set
or if the path of the binary can not be determined (/proc not mounted).
Fix that by moving the check for empty tokens before the dynamic string
token expansion. In addition, check for NULL pointer or empty strings
return by expand_dynamic_string_token.
The above changes highlighted a bug in decompose_rpath, an empty array
is represented by the first element being NULL at the fillin_rpath
level, but by using a -1 pointer in decompose_rpath and other functions.
Changelog:

malloc and realloc may set errno to ENOMEM even if they are successful.
The scandir code wrongly assume that they do not change errno, this
causes scandir to fail with ENOMEM even if malloc succeed.
The code already handles that readdir might set errno by calling
__set_errno (0) to clear the error. Move that part at the end of the
loop to also take malloc and realloc into account.

ldconfig supports `include' directives and use the glob function to
process them. The glob function sort entries according to the LC_COLLATE
category. When using a standard "include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf" entry
in /etc/ld.so.conf, the order therefore depends on the locale used to
run ldconfig. A few examples of locale specific order that might be
disturbing in that context compared to the C locale:
- The cs_CZ and sk_SK locales sort the digits after the letters.
- The et_EE locale sorts the 'z' between 's' and 't'.
This patch fixes that by setting LC_COLLATE to C in order to process
files in deterministic order, independently of the locale used to launch
ldconfig.

Historically perl includes the current directory in the module search
path. Over the time this has been considered as a security issue and
the recent vulnerabilities [1] made people to reconsider this behaviour.
It is almost sure that this will be removed in the future [2], possibly
for the 5.26 release, although this is not yet firmly decided.
Debian has decided to backport the patches [3], so the perl binary in
unstable do not have '.' in @INC anymore.
This behaviour is used in the conform perl scripts to include the
GlibcConform module. This patch fixes that by calling perl with '-I.'.
This is not a security issue in this case as make ensures that the
current directory is $(srcdir)/conform/ when the scripts are called.
Passing the full path would do exactly the same.

The fdim and fdimf functions on sparc do not fully follow the standard
and do not set errno to ERANGE when the result overflows. Since glibc
2.24 this causes the two following tests to fail:
Failure: fdim (max_value, -max_value): errno set to 0, expected 34 (ERANGE)
Failure: fdim_upward (max_value, -max_value): errno set to 0, expected 34 (ERANGE)
It happens that using GCC with the generic C code generates very similar
code to the sparc specific implementations. Therefore this patches
remove them. Note it might still worth adding a vis3 specific version of
fdim on sparc32/sparcv9, this is done in a following patch to ease
backporting.

When building for sparc32/sparcv9 or sparc64, we assume that VIS

As pointer out on the mailing list, the inline assembly code in

The ceil, floor and trunc functions on sparc do not fully follow the
standard and trigger an inexact exception when presented a value which
is not an integer. Since glibc 2.24 this causes a few tests to fail,
for instance:
testing double (without inline functions)
Failure: ceil (lit_pi): Exception "Inexact" set
Failure: ceil (-lit_pi): Exception "Inexact" set
Failure: ceil (min_subnorm_value): Exception "Inexact" set

Failure: ceil (-0.1): Exception "Inexact" set
Failure: ceil (-0.25): Exception "Inexact" set
Failure: ceil (-0.625): Exception "Inexact" set
I tried to fix that by using the same strategy than used on other
architectures, that is by saving the FSR register at the beginning
and restoring it at the end of the function. When doing so I noticed
a comment that this operation might be very costly, so I decided to
do some benchmarks.
The benchmarks below represent the time required to run each of the
function 60 millions of times with different input value. I have done
that in the basic V9 code, the VIS2 code, and using the default C
implementation of the libc, for both sparc32 and sparc64, on a Niagara
T1 based machine and an UltraSparc IIIi. Given I don't have access to a
more recent machine), I haven't been able to test the VIS3 version. Also
it should be noted that it doesn't make sense to do this benchmark for
V8 or earlier as in that case we use the default C implementation. The
results are available in the table below, the "+ fix" version correspond
to the one saving and restoring the FSR.

The first thing that should be noted is that the C implementation is
always faster on the Niagara T1 based machine. On the UltraSparc IIIi
the float version on sparc32 is also faster.
Coming back about the fix saving and restoring the FSR, it appears
it has a big impact as expected. In that case the C implementation is
always faster than the fixed implementations.
This patch therefore removes the sparc specific implementations in

Commit 1c1e7fb6 changed the __USE_KERNEL_IPV6_DEFS tests from 'ifdef'
to 'if'. As inet/netinet.in.h is a generic file, this causes a warning
on non-Linux kernels (for example Hurd). To fix that define it in the
generic bits/in.h file.
Changelog:
* bits/in.h (__USE_KERNEL_IPV6_DEFS): Define to 0.
Commit a6a4395d fixed modf implementation by compiling s_modf.c and
s_modff.c with -fsignaling-nans. However these files are also included
from the pre-POWER5+ implementation, and thus these files should also
be compiled with -fsignaling-nans.

The Principality of Liechtenstein currently does not have a corresponding
locale. Given the links with Switzerland, the best is to base the locale
on the de_CH one (German is the official language) and only change the
country related categories: LC_ADDRESS. and LC_TELEPHONE.
localedata/Changelog:
* locales/de_LI: New locale.
* SUPPORTED: Add de_LI.
nearbyint and nearbyintf should not trigger inexact exceptions, but
should still trigger an invalid exception for a sNaN input.
The SPARC specific implementations of these functions save the FSR at
the beginning of the function and restore it at the end to not trigger
an inexact exception. This however doesn't work for an sNaN input which
need to trigger an invalid exception. Fix that by adding a fcmp
instruction using the input value before saving FSR, so that an invalid
exception is triggered for a sNaN input.
This fixes the math/test-nearbyint-except test on SPARC.

invalid exception for a sNaN input.

Commits d81f90cc and 89faa0340 replaced called to __isnan and __isinf
by the corresponding GCC builtins. In turns GCC emits calls to _Qp_cmp.
We should therefore add _Qp_cmp to localplt.data as otherwise the
elf/check-localplt test fails with:
Extra PLT reference: libc.so: _Qp_cmp
A similar change has already been done for SPARC32 in commit 6ef1cb95.
Changelog:
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sparc/sparc64/localplt.data: Add _Qp_cmp.
For some reasons I have not investigated yet, tst-mode-switch-1 hangs on
a MIPS UTM-8 machine running an o32 userland and a 3.6.1 kernel.
This patch changes the test so that it runs under the test-skeleton
framework, causing the test to fail after a timeout instead of hanging
the whole testsuite. At the same time, also change the tst-mode-switch-2
and tst-mode-switch-3 tests.
Changelog:
* sysdeps/mips/tst-mode-switch-1.c (main): Converted to ...
(do_test): ... this.
(TEST_FUNCTION): New macro.
Include test-skeleton.c.
* sysdeps/mips/tst-mode-switch-2.c (main): Likewise.
* sysdeps/mips/tst-mode-switch-3.c (main): Likewise.
Commit 43c29487 tried to fix the vfork aliases in libpthread.so on MIPS
and SPARC, but failed to do it correctly, introducing an ABI change.
This patch does the remaining changes needed to align the MIPS and SPARC
vfork implementations with the other architectures. That way the the
alpha version of pt-vfork.S works correctly for MIPS and SPARC. The
changes for alpha were done in 82aab97c.
Changelog:
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/mips/vfork.S (__vfork): Rename into
__libc_vfork.
(__vfork) [IS_IN (libc)]: Remove alias.
(__libc_vfork) [IS_IN (libc)]: Define as an alias.
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sparc/sparc32/vfork.S: Likewise.
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sparc/sparc64/vfork.S: Likewise.
With recent binutils versions the GNU libc fails to build on at least
MISP and SPARC, with this kind of error:
/home/aurel32/glibc/glibc-build/nptl/libpthread.so:(*IND*+0x0): multiple definition of `vfork@GLIBC_2.0'
/home/aurel32/glibc/glibc-build/nptl/libpthread.so::(.text+0xee50): first defined here
It appears that on these architectures pt-vfork.S includes vfork.S
(through the alpha version of pt-vfork.S) and that the __vfork aliases
are not conditionalized on IS_IN (libc) like on other architectures.
Therefore the aliases are also wrongly included in libpthread.so.
Fix this by properly conditionalizing the aliases like on other
architectures.
Changelog:
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/mips/vfork.S (__vfork): Conditionalize
hidden_def, weak_alias and strong_alias on [IS_IN (libc)].
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sparc/sparc32/vfork.S: Likewise.
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sparc/sparc64/vfork.S: Likewise.
<sys/personality.h> is out of sync with kernel headers, missing the

PER_LINUX_FDPIC): Add.
