H.J. Lu ccd4cd5324 malloc: Don't call __get_thp_mode/__get_thp_size twice
Both ld.so and malloc track kernel THP mode and THP page size when THP
in ld.so is enabled by

GLIBC_TUNABLES=glibc.elf.thp=1

and THP in malloc is enabled by

GLIBC_TUNABLES=glibc.malloc.hugetlb=1

But DL_MAP_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE and MALLOC_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE may be
different when they are defined in <hugepages.h>.

If THP in ld.so is enabled, change malloc to use kernel THP mode from
ld.so, instead of calling __get_thp_mode, and use THP page size from
ld.so if it came from __get_thp_size.  This avoids calling __get_thp_mode
and __get_thp_size again, which are quite expensive:

1. Initialize mp_.thp_mode and GL(dl_thp_mode) to thp_mode_unknown.
2. Set mp_.thp_mode to GL(dl_thp_mode) if GL(dl_thp_mode) isn't
thp_mode_unknown.  Otherwise call __get_thp_mode to set mp_.thp_mode.
3. GL(dl_elf_thp_pagesize) is set to DL_MAP_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE without
calling __get_thp_size and THP page size for malloc may be different from
THP page size for ld.so.  Set mp_.thp_pagesize to GL(dl_elf_thp_pagesize)
if DL_MAP_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE is defined.  Otherwise call __get_thp_size
to set mp_.thp_pagesize.
4. THP page size in malloc is capped to MAX_THP_PAGESIZE.  If THP page
size is above MAX_THP_PAGESIZE, THP in malloc is disabled.

These result in when glibc.elf.thp is set to 1, malloc uses the actual
kernel THP mode instead of defaulting to madvise mode and madvise_thp
will stop issuing MADV_HUGEPAGE if kernel THP mode is always.

This fixes BZ #34083.

H.J. Lu 53d909a283 elf: Support THP segment load with madvise enabled THP
The current THP segment load approach works only when THP is enabled
with always in the kernel.  If THP is enabled with madvise in the
kernel, to enable THP segment load in an application, madvise should
be called with MADV_HUGEPAGE on all THP eligible PT_LOAD segments:

1. Define DL_MAP_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE in hugepages.h and default it to 0.
If DL_MAP_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE is defined, assume kernel THP madvise mode.
If kernel THP mode is always or never, there is an extra madvise call
which has no impact.  DL_MAP_DEFAULT_THP_PAGESIZE is defined for x86-64
and 64-bit loongarch.
2. Update _dl_map_segment_align to support madvise THP mode.  This fixes
BZ #34079.
3. Call _dl_executable_postprocess in rtld_setup_main_map for dynamic
executables and in LIBC_START_MAIN for static executables, which calls
madvise with MADV_HUGEPAGE on all THP eligible PT_LOAD segments in
executable.  This fixes BZ #34080 for both dynamic and static executables.
4. Call _dl_postprocess_loadcmd_extra in _dl_postprocess_loadcmd, which
calls madvise with MADV_HUGEPAGE on all THP eligible PT_LOAD segments
when loading an object after they have been mapped in.  This fixes
BZ #34080 for shared objects.
5. Set the maximum page alignment on THP tests to THP page size as the
default maximum page alignment may be smaller than THP page size.
6. Add tests to verify that large executable PT_LOAD segments in
executables are mapped at addresses aligned to THP page size when the
kernel is configured to use THP in "always" mode or "madvise" mode by
inspecting /proc/self/maps to check that the mapping address is aligned
to THP page size reported by the kernel.  Also verify that madvise is
called with MADV_HUGEPAGE when the glibc tunable glibc.elf.thp=1 is used
and madvise isn't called with MADV_HUGEPAGE when the glibc tunable
glibc.elf.thp=0 is used.

Skip these tests if THP page size cannot be determined or if THP is not
enabled in "always" mode nor "madvise" mode.

reduced, similar to what we see in THP always mode.

H.J. Lu 6afabde23e x32: Implement prctl in assembly
Since the variadic prctl function takes at most 5 integer arguments which
are passed in the same integer registers on x32 as the function with 5
integer arguments, we can use assembly for prctl.  Since upper 32-bits in
the last 4 arguments of pcrtl must be cleared to match the x32 prctl
syscall interface where the last 4 arguments are unsigned 64 bit longs,
implement prctl in assembly to clear upper 32-bits in the last 4 arguments
and add a test to verify it.

instead of __WORDSIZE == 32.  This fixes BZ #33677.

Tested on x32, x86-64 and i686.

uses 64-bit atomic operations on sem_t if 64-bit atomics are supported.
But sem_t may be aligned to 32-bit on 32-bit architectures.

1. Add a macro, SEM_T_ALIGN, for sem_t alignment.
2. Add a macro, HAVE_UNALIGNED_64B_ATOMICS.  Define it if unaligned 64-bit
atomic operations are supported.
3. Add a macro, USE_64B_ATOMICS_ON_SEM_T.  Define to 1 if 64-bit atomic
operations are supported and SEM_T_ALIGN is at least 8-byte aligned or
HAVE_UNALIGNED_64B_ATOMICS is defined.
4. Assert that size and alignment of sem_t are not lower than those of
the internal struct new_sem.
5. Check USE_64B_ATOMICS_ON_SEM_T, instead of USE_64B_ATOMICS, when using
64-bit atomic operations on sem_t.

This fixes BZ #33632.

Programs in $(others-noinstall) are internal to glibc build and they
aren't installed.  They should be treated like programs in $(others),
but linked like tests so that --enable-hardcoded-path-in-tests also
applies to them.

Also replace run-via-rtld-prefix with test-via-rtld-prefix when running
container tests.

Replace np.complex with complex to fix numpy error:

AttributeError: module 'numpy' has no attribute 'complex'.
`np.complex` was a deprecated alias for the builtin `complex`. To avoid this error in existing code, use `complex` by itself. Doing this will not modify any behavior and is safe. If you specifically wanted the numpy scalar type, use `np.complex128` here.
The aliases was originally deprecated in NumPy 1.20; for more details and guidance see the original release note at:

The problem is that since __USE_EXTERN_INLINES isn't defined with -Os,
the inline bsearch in <bits/stdlib-bsearch.h> isn't available and the
external bsearch is compiled with stack protector.  Include
<bits/stdlib-bsearch.h> in dl-cacheinfo.h fixed BZ #33374.

There are 3 variants of modf and modff: SSE2, SSE4.1 and AVX.  s_modf.c
and s_modff.c include the generic implementation compiled with the minimum
x86 ISA level.  The IFUNC selector is used only if the minimum ISA level
is less than AVX.  SSE4.1 variant is included only if the ISA level is
less than SSE4.1.  AVX variant is included only the ISA level is less than
AVX.

AVX variant should be compiled with -mavx, not -msse2avx -DSSE2AVX which
are used to encode SSE assembly sources with EVEX encoding.

The routines that are shared between libc and libm should use different
rules to avoid using the same MODULE_NAME, to avoid potential issues
like BZ #33165 where __stack_chk_fail not being routed to the internal
symbol.

Tested with -march=x86-64, -march=x86-64-v2, -march=x86-64-v3 and
-march=x86-64-v4.

This fixes BZ #33165 and BZ #33173.

Compiler generates the following instruction sequence for dynamic TLS
access:

	leal	tls_var@tlsgd(,%ebx,1), %eax
	call	___tls_get_addr@PLT

CALL instruction is transparent to compiler which assumes all registers,
except for EFLAGS, AX, CX, and DX, are unchanged after CALL.  But
___tls_get_addr is a normal function which doesn't preserve any vector
registers.

1. Rename the generic __tls_get_addr function to ___tls_get_addr_internal.
2. Change ___tls_get_addr to a wrapper function with implementations for
FNSAVE, FXSAVE, XSAVE and XSAVEC to save and restore all vector registers.
3. dl-tlsdesc-dynamic.h has:

_dl_tlsdesc_dynamic:

Support older versions of GCC to build glibc 2.42:

1. Need to work around bugs in older versions of GCC.
2. Can't use the new features in newer versions of GCC, which may be
required for new features, like _Float16 which requires GCC 12.1 or
above, in glibc,

The main benefit of supporting older versions of GCC is easier backport
of bug fixes to the older releases of glibc, which can be mitigated by
avoiding incompatible features in newer versions of GCC for critical bug
fixes.  Require GCC 12.1 or newer to build.  Remove GCC version check for
PowerPC and s390x.

TEST_CC and TEST_CXX can be used to test the glibc build with the older
versions of GCC.

For glibc developers who are using Linux OSes which don't come with GCC
12.1 or newer, they should build and install GCC 12.1 or newer to work
on glibc.

This fixes BZ #32539.

The BZ #32763 tests fail to build for MicroBlaze (which defines
MAX_OFILE_ALIGNMENT to (32768*8) in GCC, so __attribute__ ((aligned
(65536))) is unsupported).  Add a configure-time check to enable BZ #32763
tests only if __attribute__ ((aligned (65536))) is supported.

H.J. Lu 5a4573be6f x86 (__HAVE_FLOAT128): Defined to 0 for Intel SYCL compiler [BZ #32723]
Intel compiler always defines __INTEL_LLVM_COMPILER.  When SYCL is
enabled by -fsycl, it also defines SYCL_LANGUAGE_VERSION.  Since Intel
SYCL compiler doesn't support _Float128:

define __HAVE_FLOAT128 to 0 for Intel SYCL compiler.

Cast __rseq_offset to long long int

                       "r" ((long long int) __rseq_offset));		      \

to sign-extend 32-bit __rseq_offset to 64-bit.  This is a no-op for x86-64
since x86-64 __rseq_offset is 64-bit.  This fixes BZ #32543.

Since tst-deadline.c is an internal test, compile tst-deadline.c with
-Wno-ignored-attributes for Clang to silence -Werror,-Wunknown-attributes
errors.  Also suppress -Wmaybe-uninitialized only for GCC in net-internal.h.

modules must be compiled with -fsemantic-interposition to function properly.
